IBPS SO 2017: The abbreviation for IBPS SO is Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Specialist Officer.The IBPS Board which is located in various parts of the country conducts these IBPS SO Exams every year in order to recruit various aspirants across the country. The IBPS Governing body releases notification conducts exams and recruits the aspirants across the country. These IBPS Board SO Exams will be conducted to recruit the aspirants for the posts of Specialist Officer posts and other posts in various banks across the India.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) Board is one of the Government Organization which was introduced to recruit the candidates or staff into the various government banks across the India and this board comes under the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India. Details of IBPS SO Exams:

  1. Frequency in conduction of Exam: Once an year
  2. Level of Exam: Competitive Level
  3. Span of Exam: Across the Country
  4. Mode of Exam: CBT or Computer Based Test which will be conducted through Online mode.
  5. Exam Score Validity: For an year.
  6. Negative Marking:  0.25
  7. Stages of Conduction of Exam: 2 Stages which will be termed as Online Exam and IBPS SO Interview.

The Exam will be conducted through Online mode which will be Computer Based Test and there will be 200 objective questions which will be based on Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, Professional Knowledge and English language and the last stage of Exam i.e., Interview will be based on the aspirant’s skills for the posts.

The Candidates who crossed Online Exam must attend Interview so that these 2 stages will be completed.


I. For Law Officer Scale-I and Rajbhasha Adhikari Scale-I

  1. English Language – 50 Questions
  2. Reasoning Ability – 50 Questions
  3. General Awareness – 50 Questions
  4. Professional Knowledge – 50 Questions
  5. Total Questions – 200 MCQ’S (Multiple Choice Questions)
  6. Total Marks – 200 Marks
  7. Negative Marking – 0.25
  8. Duration of the Exam – 120 Minutes (2 Hours)

II. For IT Officer Scale-I, Agricultural Field Officer Scale-I, HR/ Personnel Officer Scale-I and Marketing Officer Scale I

  1. Quantitative Aptitude – 50 Questions
  2. Reasoning – 50 Questions
  3. English Language -50 Questions
  4. Professional Knowledge -50 Questions
  5. Total Questions -200 MCQ’S (Multiple Choice Questions)
  6. Negative Marking -0.25
  7. Duration of the Exam – 120 Minutes (2 Hours)

The Candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.The Candidates who are appearing for the final year or final semester of Graduation can also apply for the IBPS Board SO Posts and they need to provide the proof that the candidate is completing the graduation exam.The Candidates should not have more than 30 years of age and less than 20 years as on April 1, that year of recruitment.


There will be Sectional Cutoff in the IBPS SO Exams and this cutoff may differ from year to year based on various criteria like the candidates appear for the Exam and many criteria. There will be separate Cutoff for every section which is there in the entire recruitment process. The exam conducting body will release IBPS cut off score of each stage at the time announcement of results.

IBPS SO Admit Card 2017:

The IBPS Board will be going to release the IBPS SO 2017 admit card for any exam i.e Online Exam and Interview at least two weeks before the exam. The IBPS SO Admit card 2017 will be available through online mode only. The results of IBPS SO will be declared by IBPS Bank Recruitment Board in two stages i.e Online Exam and Interview. The IBPS SO results for the online exam will be going to declare and qualified candidates will appear for an interview. The results of IBPS SO online exam will be released based on which the candidates will be called for further round i.e., interview. The IBPS Specialist Officer final results will be declared for only those candidates who will score sectional as well as overall cut off score as per their category in stages of examination.
